FPDCC TO BEGIN NORTH BRANCH BIKE TRAIL IMPROVEMENTS

July 9, 2007

Forest Preserve District of Cook County (“District”) officials today announced that the District will begin complete reconstruction of all 20 miles of its northern Cook County North Branch Bike Trail on July 9, 2007. The reconstruction will be completed in sections and will continue through October 9, 2007. The work will consist of removing and replacing the trail’s existing asphalt. The North Branch Bike Trail begins north at Dundee Road in Glencoe and continues to its southernmost point at Caldwell & Devon Avenues in Chicago.

During construction, the District will close sections of the trail for public safety reasons. It will be re-opened when each section is completed.

UPDATE: The District's Planning and Development Department has produced maps that provide trail visitors with an approximate timeline of project beginning and completion dates. For the northern portion of the trail, click here. For the southern portion of the trail, click here.

All dates including in the map are estimates and do not include weather delays or other influencing factors that could alter the construction schedule. They are not intended to act as exact dates of beginning and completion.
