Mathew Bieszczat Volunteer Resource Center (formerly the Edgebrook Community Center)

The Forest Preserve District of Cook County’s Edgebrook Community Center can be rented out for private parties, weddings, birthdays, communions, bastimals, and organizational meetings. The room is open and ready for occupancy.

The Volunteer Resource Center is located at 6100 North Central in Chicago. Building capacity is 100. Free parking.

Special Activities

“Special Activities” refers to visitors who wish to use FPDCC property to host sport activities, such as baseball, football, rubgy or soccer, or those who would like to hold a one time event in the FPDCC. Special Activity Permits are required for these requests. There are two types of Special Activity permits “FIELD” and “EVENT”. The applications for these permits are available here in Adobe® Acrobat™ PDF format for the public to download and print.

Clean-Up Projects

Interested in doing a service project or volunteer work? Contact the District’s Maintenance Department to coordinate a clean-up project. It’s great for a Boy Scout or Girl Scout Service Project! A Special Activity FIELD Application (see below) must be submitted for service projects in the FPDCC. Please visit our Clean-Up Projects page for more information...

Special Activities — FIELD Permits

Special Activity FIELD Permits are issued for requests of the use of District property for Sport Activities, such as Baseball, Football, Rugby and Soccer, for multiple days.

Application (s) to be filled out in full, signed and mailed with a $20.00 application fee/per season/location, to the Forest Preserve District of Cook County, 536 N. Harlem, River Forest, Illinois, Attention Sharon L. Capparelli.

Please indicate on your application if a picnic grove or groves will be needed (a Picnic Permit fee will be charged for each grove requested).

One application must be filled out per season and per location.

Field Policy

Permits will be issued by seasons:

    SPRING: MARCH - APRIL - MAY
    SUMMER: JUNE - JULY - AUGUST
    FALL: SEPTEMBER - OCTOBER - NOVEMBER

Permits will be issued for one (1) weekend day and no more than three (3) weekdays per location/field. No organization will be given exclusive use.

Striping, mowing, light maintenance and rolling of the field will be done by the organization holding the permit. The organization must contact the division superintendent prior to doing so. NO REGRADING OR HEAVY MACHINERY WILL BE ALLOWED.

Nothing can stay on District property overnight. INCLUDING GOAL POSTS. All garbage that does not fit in District cans, must be removed from District property by your organization.

Fees — per season/per location

  • $20.00 Application Fee
  • $5.00 per day use fee
  • $35.00 per grove with a shelter or $30.00 per grove without a shelter

Insurance

To indemnify the Forest Preserve District of Cook County from liability claims which may arise as a result of issuing a Special Activity “Field” Permit, the District has found it necessary to request a certificate of insurance verifying general liability coverage. General liability coverage must be in limits of not less, 1,000,000.00, for bodily injury and property damage. Also, the Forest Preserve District of Cook County must be named as “Additional Insured” on the certificate.

As soon as the proper insurance coverage is received by this office, along with a completed Special Activity “Field” Permit Application and your full fee, the District will process your request.

Applications must be filled out in full, signed and returned with a $10.00 application fee, to the Forest Preserve District of Cook County, 536 N. Harlem, River Forest, Illinois 60305, Attention Sharon L. Capparelli. A completed application (per permit/location), correct insurance and the full fee must be received by this office two full weeks prior to your event.

Please indicate on your application if a picnic grove or groves will be needed (a Picnic Permit fee will be charged for each grove requested).
