Youth Organization Camping Facilities

The Forest Preserve District of Cook County operates overnight camping facilities for properly supervised youth organizations of either boys or girls at Camp Sullivan, Falcon, Reinberg, Alphonse and Glenview. ADULT AND FAMILY CAMPING IS PROHIBITED within the Forest Preserve District. TRAILERS AND CAMPERS ARE PROHIBITED.


Day Camps (Special Activities)

The District issues Day Camp Permits to Organized Youth Organizations wishing to utilize District property on per day use. Day Camp Permits are issued for Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays only. Information about obtaining a permit for Day Camps can be found on the Special Activities page.

Reservations

Reservations and permits for the use of District operated camps must be obtained from the Recreation Department, Forest Preserve District of Cook County, 536 N. Harlem Avenue, River Forest, IL 60305. Call for reservations at (773) 261-8400 or (708) 366-9420, 9:00 am to 4:00 pm of any weekday, (office is closed Saturday, Sunday and Holidays). Written confirmation and fee, must be received within fifteen (15) calendar days after the tentative reservation has been accepted. Reservations not confirmed within this time period will be automatically canceled. A permit will be issued upon receipt of the written request and fee. Changes will not be accepted after a permit has been issued. Reservations for the following year will be accepted on September 15 of the present year. If such date falls on a Saturday or Sunday, reservations will be accepted on either the Friday before or the following Monday. Please call to confirm the day.


Fees

Fees listed herein must be paid in advance and are for the sole purpose of defraying a portion of the maintenance cost of and/or the operation of the provided facilities. Make checks payable to the Forest Preserve District of Cook County. Fees are not refundable.


Camp Sullivan


Location

Entrance is on the northeast corner of 147th Street and Oak Park Avenue, Tinley Park, Illinois. The caretaker’s residence is located at the entrance.


Fee

A fee of $25.00 per night will be charged for the use of each section of buildings or the Lodge. The fee for Tent camping is $10.00 per tent, per night (maximum charge of $50.00 per night).


Facilities Available

CABINS: Two buildings are each divided into two sections (cabins A and B, C and D), each cabin will be provided with ten bunk beds accommodating twenty persons. Mattresses and bedding are not furnished. Kitchen facilities and the play area/eating room will be shared by the two cabins in the building. A flush toilet and a single shower are provided with each cabin. The kitchen has a stove, refrigerator, sink with running water (hot and cold), serving counter and shelving. Kitchen utensils, dishes or silverware are not furnished. Pay telephone number for cabins A and B is 708-687-9888. Pay telephone number for cabins C and D is (708) 687-9894.

LODGE: The Lodge accommodates twenty persons. Bunk beds are provided, but mattresses and bedding are not furnished. The Lodge has Kitchen facilities and a play area/eating room. The Lodge also has one flush toilet and one shower. The kitchen has a stove, refrigerator, sink with running water (hot and cold), serving counter and shelving. Kitchen utensils, dishes or silverware are not furnished. Pay telephone number for the Lodge is 708-687-9716.

ALL CABINS HAVE ELECTRIC LIGHTS AND ARE HEATED

TENT CAMPING: Organizations may obtain reservations and permits to camp overnight on weekends in their own tents. Water for drinking, cooking and washing is available from a well in the camp area. Outhouse toilet facilities are provided. The fee for Tent camping is $10.00 per tent, per night (maximum charge of $50.00 per night). Tenting areas will be designated by the caretaker. The dining facilities are not available to tent campers.

Camp Falcon


Location

The camp is located on the south side of 143rd Street, one-quarter (1/4) mile east of Harlem Avenue, Tinley Park, Illinois. The entrance to the camp is the same as Camp Sullivan. The Caretaker’s residence is located at the entrance.


Fee

A fee of $25.00 per night will be charged for the use of each cabin. The fee for Tent camping is $10.00 per tent, per night (maximum charge of $50.00 per night).


Facilities Available

CABINS: There are two cabins (East and West), accommodating a group of thirty. Bunk beds are provided, but the mattresses and bedding are not furnished. There is a flush toilet in each cabin. DINING HALL: The kitchen and dining hall are in an adjacent building. The dining hall is equipped with tables and benches. The kitchen has a stove, refrigerator, sink with running water (hot and cold), serving counter and shelving. Kitchen utensils, dishes or silverware are not furnished.

Camp Reinberg

SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT: Camp Reinberg will be closed during 2009 for renovations. Our apologies for this inconvenience.

Location

The camp is located on a 75 acre site on the east side of Quinten Road, one-quarter (1/4) mile north of Dundee Road (Route 68), in Deer Grove Forest Preserve, north of Palatine, Illinois.

A fee of $25.00 per night will be charged for the use of each section of buildings or the Lodge. The fee for Tent camping is $10.00 per tent, per night (maximum charge of $50.00 per night).


Facilities Available

CABINS: There are six heated cabins *cabin 1/sleeps 13, cabin 2/sleeps 7, cabin 3/sleeps 16, cabin 5/sleeps 10, cabin 6/sleeps 15 and cabin 8/sleeps 11, accommodating a total of 72. Cots and mattresses and provided, but no sheets, blankets or pillows. There is a toilet, sink and shower facility in each cabin. Pay telephone number for the camp is (708) 358-9802.

DINING FACILITIES: The kitchen and dining facilities are located in a separate building for all cabin visitors. Stoves, refrigerators, sink with running water (hot and cold), serving counters, shelving and tables are provided. Kitchen utensils, dishes or silverware are not furnished.

The camp is located on the north side of Dundee Road (Route 68), one-half (1/2) mile west of Quinten Road, in Deer Grove Forest Preserve, north of Palatine, Illinois.
